Our resin driveway installation process starts below the finished surface. We assess the site, prepare the ground correctly and use a reinforced VubaMac base system where specified before installing the final resin-bound surface.

The Finish Is Only as Good as What Sits Beneath It.
For vehicle areas, the VubaMac system is designed specifically as a reinforced base for resin-bound surfacing. The exact ground preparation and sub-base depth are determined by the site conditions rather than using the same construction everywhere.

A Purpose-Built Base for Resin-Bound Surfacing.
VubaMac is a polyurethane-bound base designed to work with the resin-bound surface above it. For residential vehicle traffic, the system uses a reinforced 30mm VubaMac layer with Structural Reinforcement Mesh above and below.

Typical Vehicle Build-Up
Resin-Bound Surface Course
The visible aggregate and resin finish. Vuba’s current vehicle build-up specifies a minimum 18mm surface course.
Upper Structural Reinforcement Mesh
Laid into the wet VubaMac layer to spread load and provide structural reinforcement.
30mm VubaMac Base
The polyurethane-bound vehicle base layer installed over the prepared lower layers.
Lower Structural Reinforcement Mesh
Provides structural support beneath the VubaMac base.
Capping + Permeable Sub-Base
Typically a clean-stone capping layer over MOT Type 3 / clean stone, with depth specified to suit the sub-soil.
Geotextile + Sub-Soil
The ground conditions are assessed because they influence sub-base depth and drainage requirements.

A Resin Driveway Installation Process Built From the Base Up.
The following shows the typical process for a new vehicle-rated resin-bound installation. Existing surfaces that are suitable for overlay may follow a different preparation route.
Survey & Specification
We inspect the existing surface, sub-soil indicators, levels, drainage, edges and how the driveway will be used.
This determines whether an overlay is suitable or a new build-up is required.
Excavation & Sub-Base
Where a new base is required, unsuitable material is removed and a geotextile membrane and permeable sub-base are installed and compacted in layers.
Vuba specifies the sub-base depth according to the ground conditions.
Capping Layer & Lower Mesh
A clean aggregate capping layer provides uniform levels before the first layer of Structural Reinforcement Mesh is rolled out and cut to suit the area.
The mesh forms part of the structural vehicle system.
Mix & Lay the VubaMac Base
The VubaMac resin and graded aggregates are mixed consistently, discharged to the work area and spread across the reinforcement at the specified depth.
For standard vehicle traffic, the current Vuba system uses a 30mm VubaMac layer.
Upper Mesh & Resin Surface
A second layer of reinforcement mesh is settled into the newly laid VubaMac. The resin-bound surface course is then installed within the manufacturer’s specified intercoat window.
This creates the integrated base and surface construction.
Cure, Inspect & Handover
The area is protected while the system cures. We inspect the finished surface, clean down the site and explain when it can return to normal use and how to look after it.
Traffic timing is confirmed for the actual resin system and conditions on the day.
Overlaying an Existing Driveway?
Not every project needs full excavation. If the existing surface and base are sound and suitable, an overlay may be possible after the required preparation. We assess this before work starts rather than assuming the existing driveway can simply be covered.

The vehicle build-up uses structural reinforcement mesh above and below the VubaMac layer to distribute load.
Permeable Construction
The current Vuba vehicle build-up is designed around a permeable sub-base and is described by Vuba as SuDS compliant.
Reduced-Dig Potential
Compared with some traditional base constructions, VubaMac is designed as a reduced-dig system, although the actual excavation still depends on the site.
