The system beneath the surface

Introducing VubaMac.

A resin-bound finish needs a base designed to support it. We use VubaMac, a specialist system developed by Vuba Surfaces for compatible resin-bound paving.

Why the base matters

It is what you cannot see that supports what you can.

The stone you walk or drive on is only the upper layer of a properly designed resin-bound installation. Beneath it, the base must support everyday loads, cope with site conditions and allow the finished surface to perform as intended.

VubaMac is designed to work with compatible Vuba resin-bound products as part of an integrated construction. The system uses selected aggregate, polyurethane resin and reinforcement mesh, with layers designed to bond together when installed to the manufacturer's specification.

We consider whether that approach is appropriate for your property during the initial assessment, including existing levels, drainage, edges, vehicle use and the condition of the ground.

Four practical reasons

More than a base layer.

VubaMac is developed around the demands of resin surfacing. These are the benefits we discuss with homeowners when deciding on the right system for a project.

01

A base designed for resin

VubaMac is a specialist polyurethane binder and aggregate base developed for Vuba resin-bound paving, rather than a generic rigid base beneath a decorative layer.

02

Layers that work together

With Vuba structural reinforcement mesh and its compatible resin surface, the base and wearing course can bond to form a more integrated system when correctly installed.

03

Permeability considered throughout

The VubaMac system is designed to let water pass through the surface and base. Performance depends on the full ground build-up, sub-base and site conditions.

04

A more considered use of materials

The system incorporates recycled aggregate in its binder course. The right specification can reduce reliance on conventional concrete or asphalt bases on suitable sites.

Understanding the layers

Designed to perform as one.

The exact construction varies depending on traffic, substrate and manufacturer's latest guidance. The following shows the components involved, from the visible aggregate down to the supporting base.

Your selected Vuba aggregate blend forms the visible finish. The specification and thickness depend on the intended use.

02

Reinforcement layer

Structural Reinforcement Mesh (SRM) forms part of the integrated system and helps distribute loading between layers.

04

Suitable foundation

The compacted permeable sub-base, ground conditions, levels and edge restraints are assessed for the property.

Site assessment comes first

The right solution for your ground.

A permeable base is not automatically appropriate everywhere. We assess levels, drainage destinations, ground stability, potential tree roots and whether the driveway will carry occasional cars, heavier vehicles or pedestrian traffic.

Vuba publishes different build-ups for paths, patios and vehicle use. The precise aggregate blend, layer thickness, foundation and curing instructions are set for each project, not copied from a generic diagram.

Manufacturer warranty information: Vuba publishes enhanced guarantees for qualifying complete systems. Eligibility, registration, approved product combinations, installer requirements and exclusions must be checked against the manufacturer's current written terms. No manufacturer's guarantee is represented here as automatically included with a Pro Green Resin quotation.

How we plan an installation

Frequently asked questions

Good things to know.

Is VubaMac suitable for every driveway?

No. The ground, access, gradients, existing materials and intended loads need assessing before a suitable construction can be proposed. An overlay or another base specification may be more appropriate in some circumstances.

Does a VubaMac surface allow water to drain?

VubaMac is designed as part of a permeable paving system. The whole construction, including the foundation and drainage strategy, must be designed for the site for permeability to be effective.

Will it prevent cracks completely?

No paving system can reasonably promise that every installation will be crack-free regardless of ground conditions. Vuba publishes specific manufacturer guarantee terms for eligible installations; we will explain any applicable cover and conditions in your quotation.

Can a VubaMac driveway be installed in one day?

Vuba describes the possibility of applying compatible layers on the same day within a specified intercoat window. That does not mean every complete driveway project takes one day: excavation, preparation, size, weather and curing all affect the programme.

Is VubaMac more sustainable?

VubaMac incorporates recycled aggregate and can offer a permeable, reduced-concrete solution where suitable. Environmental impact still depends on the full project, material transport and what groundwork is necessary.
